Falls Prevention

“At least one in three people over 65 years will fall at least once in the next year”
 
NSW Seniors Peer Education Centre, with funding from the Department for Health and Ageing, has developed two falls prevention programs.

Moving Right Along – Falls Prevention and Mobility aims to raise awareness about falls, attendees will learn about the main causes of falls and the best way to prevent them.

  • Falls are not a normal part of ageing
  • Falls may be a threat to your independence and future well-being
  • You can reduce your risk of having a fall
  • Take action earlier rather than later
Sweet Dreams – Healthy sleep and the non drug management of insomnia aims to raise awareness about the nature of sleep and changing sleep patterns in older people, the sessions also promote understanding of sleep medications and the alternatives available

Informative, interactive sessions delivered by trained Peer Educators are available free of charge to seniors groups, clubs and organisations.
